Haas has repeatedly demonstrated his dedication to the Red Hill-based team during his current contract, even though he had previously asked for a release from the team before choosing to re-sign with them through the end of 2026.

It is evident that Haas’ primary motivation is winning a tournament, and he now thinks that the Broncos, who are now in fourth place with one week left in the 2025 season, will secure a top-four finish if they defeat the Melbourne Storm on Thursday night.
Haas may go on the open market on November 1st since he is off-contract at the end of 2026, but his management Ahmad Merhi told AAP that wasn’t the intention.
Merhi told the Newswire that Payne will always call Brisbane home.
“We have a positive connection with Brisbane and are constantly in communication with them. Payne will not be leaving.
“Hopefully, we will complete [an extension] as soon as the season concludes. He is only thinking about the competition right now.
“He helped Brisbane a lot, even when they weren’t doing well. His legacy greatly influences his future actions, and he has earned five Paul Morgan Medals (as player of the year).

The salary cap is the main problem facing the Broncos.
Since Haas is one of the finest players in the game, it is likely that he will get another seven-figure contract when he re-signs.
The Broncos have also spent a lot of money to keep center Kotoni Staggs, who was been given a contract extension, five-eighth Ezra Mam, lock forward Patrick Carrigan, and fullback Reece Walsh.
The club lost Selwyn Cobbo as a result, and if Haas is signed past the end of 2026, the Brisbane-based team may have to let go of other players. However, Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt are also expected to retire at the end of 2026, which would free up some money for the team going forward.
As Michael Maguire aims for quick success in his first season at the club, Haas, a representative for both New South Wales and the international team, will be essential to Brisbane’s run in the finals.
