Rodri and Phil Foden were expected to rejoin Pep Guardiola’s team for today’s game. The two were absent from last weekend’s 4–0 victory over Wolves. Savinho and Mateo Kovacic will not play against Tottenham, Guardiola revealed.

Josko Gvardiol, who resumed training this week, is also not playing in today’s game. “Rodri and Phil [Foden] were out last game, but for just the reason of lack of training and rhythm,” Pep Guardiola clarified. Palermo was not a destination for them. They are ready for tomorrow, but they weren’t prepared for the ninety minutes against Wolves. Josko [Gvardiol], Savinho, and [Mateo] Kovacic are not present.

Ederson’s availability for the game against Spurs has also been confirmed by Pep Guardiola. Due to illness, the Brazilian international was unable to play last weekend. There has not yet been a decision made regarding whether Ederson will start in goal or James Trafford.

Who starts for Manchester City will be worth keeping an eye on before kick-off. It will be intriguing to watch who starts at Etihad Stadium today since Phil Foden, Rodri, and Ederson are all back in the running. That Rodri would start would seem doubtful. In order to return to full fitness, the Spanish international must keep improving. Foden could be in the same boat as Rodri. James Trafford might be replaced in goal by Ederson, but considering how brilliantly Trafford performed at Molineux, it would be a harsh call on him.

However, Ederson, Foden, and Rodri are available for today’s game, which is good news. This is encouraging since the Manchester City team appears to be well-positioned for what may prove to be a difficult test for Pep Guardiola’s team.
